Long John's Bio

Let me tell you a little about myself. Yes, I do have a wooden leg...a dose of Biker’s Disease back in ‘81. That put an end to my days of fighting fires, busting up log jams and working the mountains of Northern California.

For the next twelve years I repaired and built custom motorcycles, Harleys to Hondas, Triumph being my specialty. I’ve built bikes that survived a VanDam Movie! I’ve been in a few movies, my best role was playing a Pirate in "Hook". Real stretch, huh?

I’ve trained in Prosthetics and Orthotics, then designed and built my own "High Tech Peg". My sister has been known to call me "Robo Bro". The down side of that profession is that it is Very Toxic! Combined with Hepatitis C, from a blood transfusion in ‘81, I’m back on the disabled list.

I’ve been involved with reenacting Pirates and Vikings, but "Rendezvous" or "Buckskinning" has captured my passion. I relive the Pre 1840 Primitive Fur Trade Era in a canvas tent (with its own wood burning stove inside!) Wearing ‘skins’, cooking over the coals, competing with muzzle loading rifles, and sharing the company of other Buckskinners in the mountains.
